The Rt. Honourable Speaker, principal officers and honourable members of the Edo State House of Assembly hereby condemn in very strong terms the attacks on the #EndSARS protesters by yet unidentified hoodlums in Benin City last Friday. It regards such unprovoked attacks on peaceful, nonviolent protesters as a dangerous signal which must be roundly condemned and nipped in the bud.
While urging the protesting youths to continue to conduct their protests without resort to violence, the House calls on the leadership of the police in Edo State to immediately commence investigations into the incident with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
Finally, the House wishes to reiterate it’s commitment to making laws, and carrying out it’s oversight responsibilities for the overall good governance of our state and the protection of lives and property. In this wise, the house encourages the Federal Government and the leadership of the Nigerian police to continue in its resolve to carry out comprehensive reforms of the force
