The House during plenary considered and adopted its proposed business calendar for the second session, third quarter , 2021 where it proposed a total of 65 sitting days .
The Speaker earlier in plenary session directed the House Committee on Health to carry out legislative oversight on MDA’s under the it’s areas to ensure compliance with COVID -19 prevention guidelines.
In another development, two APC law makers, tendered their resignation from the party and formally defect to the ruling People’s Democratic Party.
On resumption of plenary Speaker announced receipt of resignation letters from former Deputy Speaker , Prince Yekini Idaiye and Member Representing Orhionmwon East. Hon.Nosa Okunbor .
Prince Yekini Idaiye in his resignation letter said his decision was borne out of the internal crisis rocking the APC in his ward and local government ,
Member Rep Orhionmwon East Nosa Okunbor in his resignation letter attributed the divisions within the APC in his ward and failed attempts to reconcile issues.
Receiving the members ,Speaker Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun described the defection as historic assuring that it will boost the fortunes of the party while the Majority leader Henry Okhuarobo said the House has become formidable with the development.
Under matters of urgent public importance Deputy Speaker Roland Asoro drew the attention of the House to the menace of herdsmen in parts of Orhionmwon .
He said six persons including a head of vigilante outfit in Ugo, Orhionmwon local government were killed by suspected herdsmen last week .
He called on the state police commissioner and other relevant security agencies to address the issue.
Similarly, member representing Esan South East. Hon. Sunny Ojiezele while supporting the motion also drew the attention of the House on abductions and killings in the his constituency by suspected herdsmen.
The Speaker directed that clean copies of the resolution be sent to the state governor and other relevant security agencies.
