EDHA NEWS: Edo Assembly adopts new business calendar.

Members of Edo state House of Assembly have adopted a new business calendar for the fourth quarter of the third session.

The adoption was made today during resumed plenary session at the complex. The calendar is expected to run from June 1st, 2022 through to August 31st, 2022.

Also at the plenary, the House moved to screen and consider two Nominees for the position of Auditors General of the state and Local Government. The nominees were recommended by the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
They are Odiase Henry Osaretin as Audior General of the state and Justice Sydney Oyewole for Local Government.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun referred the application to the House committee on Rules and Business Government House to thoroughly screen candidates and report findings.

Members had earlier at the executive session resolved to make an adjustment to elect Hon. Yekini Idaiye as the Deputy Whip of the house. The position was initially occupied by Hon. Ephraim Aluebhosele while Hon. Sunny Ojeizele remains the Deputy Leader of the House. This according to the speaker, is part of strategies to strengthen the house leadership .

The Speaker also at plenary , congratulated some of his colleagues who contested various positions and emerged victorious at the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All progressives Congress ( APC) primaries.

Concluding proceedings at plenary ,a minute silence was held in honour of those who lost their lives during Sundays attacks at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church at Owo, Ondo state.
The Speaker condemned the terrorist attack, describing the event as grief stricken , prayed to God to give the grieving families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and speedy recovery for the injured.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Roland Asoro Thanked the Speaker on behalf of his colleagues for the leadership role he played during the party primaries as he moved the motion for adjournment.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Sunny Ojiezele.
Consequently, plenary was adjourned to Thursday 16th 2022.
