The season of Lent is of paramount importance to Christian faithful all over the world; orthodox, Protestant and Pentecostals alike. It has the high mark of almsgiving, fasting and prayer.
The activities of the Holy Week climaxes the entirety of Lenten observance. This day is termed GOOD FRIDAY, but for the passion and love for which the messiah bore in his heart, of so wrong a people of misdeeds, greed and selflessness”.
It is worth it for us to rescind from the busy times into a moment of sober reflection on the course for which we exist. Today, we reflect the commemoration of the act of Christ’s kindness for which he was crucified on the cross. Christians are expected to live likewise in the things they do and the services they render in our schools, churches, and private and even public offices.
A good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. We may have to question ourselves, what have we laid down for others? what sacrifices have we made to mortify our flesh and enrich our spirit. We have a nation to celebrate her pros and cons but for the sacrifices of our heroes past who gave off so much in order to take up the burden of the responsibilities they faced.
As we mark Good Friday let us in the passion of the season of sacrifices remember those in need in this trying economic challenges to reach out and to lend a helping hand to those in need around us.
We are ambassadors to the faith we profess and the standards she represents. Thus, we should make frantic efforts to exemplify it by all standards. So, today we must forgive those who must have wronged us, we must reconcile with those we have wronged, bridge the gap that exists between broken relationships and ensue peace and love to all sundry
MAY THE GOOD FRIDAY BRING MORE HOPE TO US ALL
