Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun has continued to distinguish himself in the House of Representatives as a member with time-tested expertise and experience in the legislative process.
This came to the fore as a Bill for the Establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture, Ebelle Igueben LGA, Edo State sponsored by him has scaled through second reading.
Leading the debate, Rt Hon Marcus Onobun ksc, emphasized the importance of Agriculture to the economic development of a country.
He also stressed that the college will serve as a training and research institute, which will engage in the advancement and promotion of the education of scholars in different fields of agriculture needed in the development of the sector of Nigeria’s economy.
According to the honorable member, the Bill has the potential to reduce Youth restiveness, as the college will provide opportunities for Nigerian youths to get involved in research and academic activities that will keep them busy, thereby preventing them from engaging in unproductive ventures that will impact negatively on the society.
The member also highlighted the potential of the Bill to provide direct and indirect employment for the people of Igueben.
The Bill was graciously referred to the Committee on Agricultural Institutions for further legislative action.
