The member representing Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, KSC, has been decorated with an Award of Honour by the Diocese of Esan (Anglican Communion) in recognition of his outstanding public service, commitment to youth development and contributions to the Christian community.
The award, tagged the “Anglican Youth Vanguard Award of the Year 2025” was presented during the 25th Anniversary of the Canonical Erection and 2025 Synod of the Diocese.
Presenting the plaque, the Bishop of Esan Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Gabriel O. Elabor, DSA, praised Hon. Onobun’s trail of impactful representation at the National Assembly, his unwavering support to the Church, and his role as a model of faith-driven leadership in governance.
According to the Church, the honour was conferred “in recognition of his exemplary leadership as a distinguished member of the House of Representatives, his prayer zeal, and transformative contributions to the Anglican youth, the broader Church, and the wider community.”
Speaking after receiving the award, Hon. Onobun appreciated the Church for deeming him worthy of the recognition, stressing that the honour would further strengthen his commitment to rendering selfless service, promoting moral leadership, and advancing projects that improve the lives of people in his constituency and beyond.
He reiterated that public service must remain an extension of faith, discipline and responsibility to the common good.
