ASH WEDNESDAY: RT. HON MARCUS TASKS CHRISTIANS ON PRAYERS

from dust to dust, we are nothing but pilgrims here on earth

The honourable member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun has urged christian faithfuls on holistic observances of the Lenten season, which begins with Ash Wednesday.

Reflecting on the memorial practice, Rt. Hon Marcus reiterated its symbolism as it bears to mind for all the nothingness of worldly pursuits, which are not short of being a mere means to end.

The federal lawmaker sought that while Christians engage in this sacred season, prayers should be offered for our dear constituency, state, and country in general, seeking the thriving of peace and harmony.

Earlier, Rt. Hon Marcus Onobun charged Christians to love one another and be law abiding during and after the entire exercise.

On his part, he thanked Christians, acknowledging their prayers towards him. He noted that his representation as a federal lawmaker was ordained by God and he shall not let his people down.

“The Lenten season is characterized by alms giving, fervent prayers, and fasting, giving us a sort of spiritual reawakening and consciousness of our eternal purpose even while being here as a pilgrim church.

“As we begin this season in seeking the face of God to look down on us, we believe he shall grant us mercies and answers us, Amen.
