The member representing Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency, Edo State, Rt. Hon. Marcus I. Onobun joins the good people of Edo State and Nigerians at large in celebrating the one-year anniversary of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State.
The Member noted in his congratulatory message that since His Excellency assumed office on November 12, 2024, he has demonstrated visionary and purposeful leadership that has not only restored public confidence but has ignited a new wave of socio-economic renaissance across the state. Rt. Hon. Onobun extended his heartfelt congratulations and commended the Governor’s bold strides in delivering impactful and people-focused governance within just one year in office.
More so, Rt. Hon. Onobun succinctly highlighted the Governor’s outstanding achievements, which cut across different sectors of the state’s economy, which is a testament to his unwavering commitment to building a prosperous and progressive Edo State. Key accomplishments highlighted in his message include:
Historic Infrastructure Expansion: The initiation of Edo’s first-ever and second flyover projects at Ramat Park, Ikpoba Hill, and Adesuwa Junction, coupled with widespread road rehabilitation using durable cement-cast technology across all senatorial districts.
Education Transformation: Regularisation of EdoSTAR teachers, recruitment of over 500 new educators, and renovation of more than 60 schools—laying a strong foundation for quality education and brighter futures.
Public Transportation Revitalisation: Procurement and deployment of 100 new interstate buses, revitalising New Edo Line operations after 15 years of dormancy and improving mobility and security for citizens.
Strengthened Security Architecture: Anti-cultism and anti-kidnapping laws, demolition of criminal hideouts, and improved synergy with security agencies have enhanced peace and safety, particularly in communities such as Uromi and Ekpoma.
Healthcare Revolution: Unprecedented state-wide malaria program, construction of modern health facilities, ₦63.9 billion earmarked for the health sector in the 2025 budget, ₦1.8 billion health insurance scheme, and enhanced welfare for health security operatives.
Workers’ Welfare & Economic Growth: Introduction of a groundbreaking ₦85,000 minimum wage and consistent delivery on the administration’s Five-Point Agenda anchored on security, infrastructure, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education.
