With the growing nationwide clamour for the passage of the local government autonomy Bill, the Speaker, said an earlier engagement with other Speakers across the country and lawmakers at the National Assembly on the subject indicates that the quest for the passage of the Bill is sancrosant.
He said as a step towards the passage of the Bill, the State House of Assembly has been proactive with the passage of the amended State local government electoral law and Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment re-enactment law 2022 to empower EDSIEC to conduct local government elections in the state amongst other Bills which have direct impact on the local government
administration .

The leader of the NULGE state working committee who is also the President NULGE Edo State Com. Lazarus Adorolo said the advocacy visit is to request the House to consider voting in favour of the charter demand on local government financial autonomy.
The visit climaxed with the presentation of a copy of the charter demand on local government autonomy to the Speaker as well as a copy of the amended local government law as passed by the National Assembly by the State Chapter of NULGE on behalf of its National Leadership.
