The speaker Edo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Marcus Onobun ksc has in strong terms condemned the recent attack on St. Francis Catholic church Owo, Ondo state.
Rt Hon Marcus Onobun expressed sadness at the incident which occurred today as parishioners were observing the morning mass when gunmen stormed the church, with explosives and shooting at worshippers, in which over 50 parishioners are reportedly dead or injured .
In his words Rt Hon.Marcus Onobun remarked ” it is difficult to understand reasons behind such an unprovoked attack, especially in a sacred place of worship; is there no value for human lives again”?
The speaker commiserated with the parish, the Catholic diocese of owo and the christian community in Owo and ondo state urging for calm in this very distressing situation; stating that everything must and always be committed to God.
Rt Hon Marcus Onobun empathised with the government of Ondo state and the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act; praying for the the repose of their soul and that God should comfort all the grieving family.
He also prayed for healing for those injured in the senseless attack.
Rt.honorable Marcus Onobun however, called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency tackle the growing insecurity in the country before it escalates beyond control especially the unprovoked killings of innocent and the vulnerable people .
He called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous act as it one attack too many .
