As part of the annual end of year activities in Iruekpen, an interquarters football competition has been concluded with Ikhin Quarters trashing Idumemalua quarters to win the trophy for the competition to catch them Young sponsored by the Speaker Edo state House of Assembly Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc.
The tension soaked match saw football mastery by both teams, however Ikhin Quarters showed more mastery thrashing Idumemalua quarters by 5goals to 4 on penalties to win the trophy.
Speaking at the finals, the sponsor of the competition and Speaker Edo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc, said the event is one to engage the youths towards a meaningful ventures rather than engaging in social vices.
Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun advised youths to support the New Dawn project as it is one that will empower more youths.
He appealed to the youths to shun divisive tendencies and work together for the success and growth of Iruekpen in particular and Okpebholo in general .
Mr Speaker disclosed that as he campaigns for the ticket to the House of Representatives, the youths are a major beneficiary of his plans being a youth himself
and having lived among them all his formative years.
He congratulated all the 12 quarters of Iruekpen who participated in the tournament and appealed for unity of purpose in Iruekpen.
Head of local government Administration in Esan West Engr Emmanuel Ibhadode advised youths in the area to always avoid social vices and engage in productive ventures .
President of Iruekpen Football Association, Mr Clifford Edetalen who thanked the Speaker for hosting the competition, called on all to support the New Dawn project as it will be beneficial to all .
To climax the event, prizes were presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Ikhin Quarters winners of the 2022 tournament went away with the Speaker’s first prize of 150 thousand Naira, with additional 100 thousand naira from the Holga, Idumemalua quarters who came 2nd got 100 thousand naira and additional 30 thousand naira while the third place winners idumeke and Ughodin shared the 50 thousand naira and additional 20 thousand naira.
Also, Present at the finals was the CEO mindcaste hotel.
