Rt Hon. Marcus Onobun assureds PDP leadership.The speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Marcus Onobun today led the 7 PDP house members to pay a courtesy visit to the party state chairman and other party leaders.The courtesy train first alighted at the party state secretariat where the 7 PDP house members led by the Rt Hon Speaker met the party state chairman.Speaking during the visit, the speaker highlighted the reasons for the visit amongst whom are: To thank the party leadership for giving a cover for the governor during his political storm, for giving him the platform upon which he contested for his second term bid as well as the role they played to ensure that the governor emerged victorious. “We have also come to assure you that there is no rift amongst the 7 PDP house members in the house , as we are as united as one under the same PDP umbrella with the focus to give the executive the needed support for the betterment of Edo people “ he added.The speaker also assureds the state chairman that the house under his leadership will not fail to recognize and adhere to the party’s leadership structure and principles.
On his part, the PDP State Chairman Dr. Tony Aiziegbemi thanked the speaker and the members for deeming it fit for them to come and clear the air, as the party leadership was very concerned about the unity of the house members owing to the recent development at the house. He also urged the house under the leadership of Rt Hon Marcus Onobun to ensure they work cordially with the executive so to bring more dividends to the people as well as attracts investors into the state. Stressing that no investor will want to come to an environment full of uncertainty. In an advisory note, he urged the house members not to fail to consult the party leadership on critical issues before the House as the leaders will be there to give advice that will further strengthen democracy in the state and as well brightens the chances of the party in future elections.
The courtesy train thereafter moved to the residence of the immediate past PDP state chairman Chief Dan Osi Orbih. In like manner, the speaker reiterated the purpose of the visit is to assure the party leadership that there is no rifts amongst the PDP house members and to pledge their continuous loyalty to the party’s leadership.In his response, Chief Dan Orbih said he was very disturbed when the news of the impeachment of the former speaker got to him. He however expressed joy seeing the entourage including the impeached speaker.
“With what I am seeing now, my mind is now at rest” he said. In an advisory note, he urged the house members to remain united as one so as to discharge their legislative duties to the people of the state. Stressing that whatever the house decides to do, they should ensure the general interest of the people is prioritized. In the same manner, he advised the PDP house members to always uphold the guiding principles of the party as the PDP is a well structured party as their actions and in actions can either brighten their future ambitions or mare it.He also urged the members to ensure the house give the governor the needed support to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people as the expectations of the people are very high.
