The Speaker stated this, when he commisioned the office complex of the Association of Plasters of Paris dealers of Edo State (APPDES) along Benin sapele road, Benin city.
Rt. Hon.Marcus Onobun said he was delighted that the youths under the umbrella of APPDES have made themselves worthy abassadors of the state and beyond by engaging in artisan work rather than wait for white collar jobs which are not available.
The Speaker who later took a tour of the APPDES Secretariat, however said he was overwhelmed by the way they have organised themselves and the office complex,which housed a board room, a training center and a sales office .
Rt. Hon. Marcus ,then appealled to the people of Edo State to avail themselves the opportunity to do business with members of the group rather than engage with people without an office who may swindle them out of their hard earn money.
The Speaker was later presented with the APPDES Cap as a mark of gratitude for honoring their invitation.
Earlier the President of AAPDES , Edo State chapter Mr. Shola Atsedagho who took the Speaker round their office said, the reason they formed the association was because, they want their activities to be properly regulated and also for them to become a legal entity.
Mr Shola said that they have fully registered the body which will regulate the activities of all artisan who engage in the pop business, and also to regulate the prices as well.
He further said that they have in the complex, a training center where interested youth can come and train both in sales and also making of ceiling , so they can become self reliant and also contribute meaningfully to the development of Edo State.
Mr Shola also stated that they have an Office along the Benin Auchi Road ,which was donated to them by the Governor of Edo State , Mr. Godwin Obaseki, were youth from the 18 local government can come and be trained in the act of making Pop ceilings and also in the selling of raw material as well which is still under construction.
Others members of the APPDES Secretariat include the vice president Mr Sisi Agosson, the General Secretary, Reveren Nosakhaire Edokpolo among others.
