Edo State House of Assembly today received a letter by the State Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki requesting the screening and confirmation of an additional commissioner nominee, Dr Bartholomew Irudunoghena Cornelius -Brai .
The letter from Governor Obaseki with attached twenty -four copies of the nominee’s curriculum vitae is requesting the confirmation of Dr Bartholomew Irudunoghena Cornelius- Brai as a civil commissioner nominee for consideration and confirmation by the House.
The Speaker, Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun directed the House Committee on Rules and Business Chaired by the Majority Leader and Member representing Ikpoba Okha, Rt Hon Henry Okhuarobo to invite the nominee interact with the commissioner nominee and report back to the house.
Consideration of the report of the House Joint Committees on Agriculture and Food Security and Public Security at the committee of the whole for the consideration and passage of Bill for a Law to prohibit open grazing of cattle and other livestock in Edo State 2022 and for other connected was deferred to the next house sitting.
Member representing Esan North East Constituency (One) Rt. Hon. Francis Okiye had requested that consideration at the committee of a whole be stepped down to Tuesday for more time so members can make inputs.
On his part, member representing Akoko Edo Constituency (2) Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje aligned with Rt. Hon. Okiye on the grounds that the open grazing bill due to it’s sensitive nature demands more time for a robust debate at the committee of a whole .
The House through a voice vote deferred consideration of the bill to the next sitting date.
Also, Pupils and Students of Great Leaders International School observed the day’s plenary.
Plenary was thereafter, adjourned to Tuesday 15th March 2022 after a motion of adjournment moved by Hon Nosayaba Okunbor and ably seconded by Rt. Hon. Henry Okhuarobo.
