EDHA NEWS: Edo Speaker congratulates members on completion of third quarter of tenure.

The Edo state House of Assembly has today rounded up the third quarter of the seventh assembly.

The house Speaker, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun made the announcement today at a resumed plenary session held in Benin city, the Edo state capital.

He congratulated all members for the successful completion of the quarter and thanked them for the maximum support and collaboration he has enjoyed so far as the Speaker of the house. He wished prospective aspirants vying for various political positions goodluck in their endeavours.

Also at the plenary some pending Bills were read and presentation of reports by various house standing committees were submitted to the house ahead of deliberations.

However, the majority Leader, Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency, moved a motion for considerations to be slated for a later date due to tasking engagements and numerous state activities the legislators are occupied with.
The motion was seconded by Rt. Hon. Francis Okiye of Esan North East constituency.

Member representing Orhionmwon II constituency, Rt. Hon. Roland Asoro, thereafter moved the motion for adjournment, citing various house committees’ outstanding assignments, projects, primary oversight functions and political activities as motive.

He also added that it is customary to take a short break after successful completion of a quarter to enable the House tidy up previous undertakings. The harmless motion was seconded by Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje, of Akoko-Edo II constituency.
Consequently, the House adjourned its sitting to Monday 16th May, 2022.
