The Heads of local government administration and Executives of National union of local government employees NULGE today paid a solidarity visit to the speaker in his country home Iruekpen.
Addressing the speaker, the head of local government administration in Esan West Engr Emmanuel Ibhadode commended the speaker for his leadership qualities which was instrumental to the resolution of the crisis rocking the NULGE executives in some councils.
He described the speaker as one embodiment of humility, stressing that the visit is also to introduce the NULGE executives to him.
Also speaking, the NULGE chairman, Esan West, Comrade silverking ikhili , who is one of the beneficiaries of the speaker’s intervention , thanked him for his prompt response and pleaded for the implementation of Autonomy for councils.
In his response, an elated Rt Hon Marcus Onobun said the visit was historical as a similar visit was held by Esan West council staff to pave way for his victory at the polls.
Rt Hon Marcus Onobun said ” Today is remarkable as there is the need for the third tier of government to be formidable and strengthened”.
He said he is going to the House of Representatives to be a vocal voice for the people, as he has in the last two and half years been vocal for the people .
The speaker said with about one year to go, he has more projects and benefits for the people of the constituency .
He said his rise to speakership as a first timer is God ordained, just as his aspiration now is also God ordained, describing his situation as one who has the grace of God to work for the people.
