Edo Assembly award of excellence from JONAPID in recognition of the prompt Passage of Edo State Persons with Disabilities law.

Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc has been presented with an award of honour in appreciation of his distinctive contribution to the Disabilities community by the Joint National Association Person with Disabilities.

Rt.Hon.Marcus Onobun ksc, while receiving the award said the passage of the bill and subsequent assent by the Governor is part of the resolve of the 7th Assembly to ensure passage of people oriented bills.

Rt.Hon.Marcus Onobun ksc stated that the house has a desire to ensure the full integration of persons with Disabilities into society, where they would not be discriminated against.

Mr Speaker thanked JONAPID for the honour and restated that it would spur him and the house of Assembly to concentrate on the Passage of more people oriented bills.

Earlier while presenting the award, the state chairperson of JONAPID, Comrade Ann Obehi Ojugo said the award Became imperative due to the speedy passage of the Edo State Persons with Disabilities law after a twelve year waiting period, seeks to integrate persons with Disabilities into society.

Comrade Ojugo said the law has paved way for all persons with Disabilities to have full asses to all with various Disabilities to Healthcare delivery, education, social as well as political life.

JONAPID is a National body which is a coalition of all persons with Disabilities, with offices across the 18 local government areas of the state.
