Ahead the 2023 general elections, Esan Youth Congress, an umbrella body of youths in the Five Local government councils that make up Esan central senatorial district, have endorsed the candidacy of Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc at the House of Representatives to represent Esan West, Esan central and Igueben federal constituency.
The Congress which paid a solidarity and endorsement visit to the speaker in his office said they were elated at the speaker’s glowing attributes which has made youths proud.
President of the Congress Prince Odion Abumenre and publicity secretary Ekata Uwalata stated that their endorsement of the Speaker is due to his laudable achievements , peace,sanity and harmony in the 7th Assembly .
The Congress said in endorsing the speaker’s candidacy for the House of Representatives seat,they are ready to campaign with the Speaker in ensuring his success at the polls.
Appreciating Esan Youth Congress, Speaker Edo state House of Assembly Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc, expressed his gratitude to the group for finding him worthy of the endorsement in view of the humble achievements of the 7th Assembly.
Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc charged the group to work on the youths to see themselves as important tools for electoral victory,as the youths make up more than 50percent of the voting population of the country according to INEC data.
The Speaker urged them to use the PVC’s collected to make a Statement and elect credible leaders in the forthcoming general elections.
He also advised the Congress to mobilize youths across 51 wards of Esan central senatorial district to change the trend stressing that prices of petroleum products have skyrocketed almost above the reach of the common man.
Mr Speaker emphasized that the time has come for the youths to use their numbers to make a difference especially in the area of deplorable infrastructure, and insecurity leading to the recent kidnapping in Ekekhen Train station in Igueben local government area,where adequate security was not provided for the train station by the Federal Government.
