The Edo state House of Assembly has summoned the commissioner for youths and humanitarian affairs Hon. Adaze Enwanta over his refusal to honour the house committee on youths invitation.
Speaker Edo state House of Assembly Rt Hon Marcus Onobun ksc while recieving the preliminary report from the committee over complaints of illegal elections into the National youth council of Nigeria said the house will not condone any form of disregard or disrespect of it’s committes.
The Speaker therefore directed the commissioner to be present at the Hallowed Chambers on the next sitting day.
The chairman of the committee on youths and humanitarian affairs, Rt Hon Francis Okiye while presenting the report said the committee has since on the 5th of December when the committee was given the assignment been working, but had hitches as some of those involved refused to honour the invitation of the committee.
Rt Hon Francis Okiye therefore said that the singular recommendation of the committee is for the Speaker to use his office to compel those involved to be invited.
Earlier, majority leader of the house and member representing ikpoba okha constituency Rt Hon Henry Okhuarobo proposed a business calendar for the 3rd quarter, 4th session of the 7th Assembly of 55 days from 16th January to 31st March, with 12 days in January, 20 days in February and 23 days in March.
This was adopted by the house as its business calendar for the quarter.
Summing up deliberations, the Speaker Rt Hon Marcus Onobun ksc, commended Edo state Governor Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and security agencies for tackling the security challenges in the state.
Rt Hon Marcus Onobun said that with the recent kidnapping at Ekekhen train station in Igueben local government area, the state government and security agencies rose to the occasion by securing the release of over 80percent of abductees.
He warned all criminal elements to relocate from the state as the security agencies are battle ready to ensure the peace and safety of people in the state.
The Speaker also urged lawmakers to ensure they complete all committee assignments and prepare their reports for the next sitting day.
Plenary played host to students of university of Benin, Natural Agricultural students led by Mercy Ihogbe deputy speaker and the students Representative council paliarment of Natural Association of life science led by Speaker comrade Ojobo.
