Hon Marcus Onobun tells contractors
The honorable member representing esan West constituency who doubles as the deputy leader of the house and chairman house standing committee on infrastructure and other members of the committee today paid an oversight visit to some rehabilitation projects in Ekpoma, Esan West LGA.
Some of the sites visited was Ujoelen water erosion Rehabilitation project and Ehiemua Rehabilitation project in Ekpoma Esan west local Govt Area.
During the visit, the committee took time to get feedbacks from residents in the area on their satisfaction with the job done so far. Most of the residents who spoke to the committee however expressed worries that the essence of the rehabilitation might be defeated unless the contractor properly direct the erosion to a burrow pit own by the ministry of infrastructure. Some other residents complained of the quality of materials used.
Responding to this, the chairman of the committee. Hon. Marcus Onobun said “ the committee has done what is expected of them to inspect ongoing projects and will make appropriate steps to ensure contractors follow approved standards.
In a swift reaction, he ordered the committee secretary to invite the Honorable commissioner ministry of infrastructure , the permanent secretary and the contractor handling the said projects to come before the committee on Tuesday 18th March 2020 for further deliberations on the said projects.
