Edo Speaker bags ESI most distinguished speaker award

The Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Marcus Onobun has said by 2027 the state shall have a sizeable number of youths as elected personnels owing to the enabling environment, structures and programmes being put in place for Edo youths.

The speaker said this when he received an award as the most distinguished Speaker in Edo state, presented to him by the representatives of Edo Students Icon, ESI at his office in Benin city.

He enjoined them to seize the opportunities the state has provided for youths and take out time to be involved in mainstream politics as learned youths, as well as usher in fresh and brilliant ideas into the political system while participating actively in grassroot mobilisation and registration of member youths.

According to him, “Let’s keep interacting with young people, ask them their involvement in politics because as a matter of fact, if you choose not to involve yourself in politics you’ll find mediocres voted into positions and they become your leaders. You need to get involved to change that narrative”.

He pledged to offer his continued support for youths related activities that would benefit the state and the people as a whole.

The project manager of ESI, Mr. Kings Iyare said the honourable Speaker came highly recommended for his impact in youth development programmes in the state and thanked him for the laudable role he has played representing youths in the state.

ESI awards is platform for recognising, awarding and supporting exceptional and remarkable youths in Edo state for their great strides in their various fields and areas of endeavour.
