MATTER OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE
in another development, the speaker also called on the inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu to direct and enforce police officers to return to their duty posts in Edo State.

This was in response to the motion of urgent public importance move by Hon Emma Okoduwa Member representing Esan Northeast II on the recent ENDSARS protest and its attendant riots led to attacks on several police formations across the country leading to death of some police officers.

It has been observed that police officers have abandoned their duty posts, deserted major roads and stopped regular patrols across the state, and their absence has led to increase in robbery and kidnapping in the state.

The house therefore resolved that:

  1. The police inspector general, Mohammed Adamu charge, direct and enforce police officers to return to their duty posts and officers should be equipped with the necessary tools to carry out their constitutional responsibilities of protecting life’s and properties across the country particularly Edo State.
  2. The local government council chairmen should ensure the setting up of vigilantes in various communities within their domain to support the police in protecting lives and properties within their communities
  3. The local government council chairmen should immediately clear the road verge in all highways and major roads across their various council areas.

The bill to establish Edo state college of education and for purposes connected therewith also had its first reading at the plenary
